When DNA results will be presented to a court, a child support office, an immigration authority, or an estate attorney, the collection itself must be documented. For those cases LegacyLink performs a legal chain-of-custody collection: each participant is identified with government-issued photo ID, photographed, and swabbed by a trained collector, and the specimens are sealed in tamper-evident packaging with signed custody paperwork. Legal DNA testing is coordinated through our AABB-accredited laboratory partner, which performs all laboratory analysis and issues the official report. LegacyLink Testing & Compliance Services LLC is an independent specimen collection and testing coordination company and is not itself AABB accredited.
Paternity is not the only way to answer a family question. Sibling, grandparent, and aunt/uncle (avuncular) testing compare a child with other close biological relatives when the alleged father is unavailable, deceased, or unwilling to participate.
